  • Blue Ribbon Nannies - Terms and conditions

    Blue Ribbon Nannies is a referral service and as a result of finding permanent employment through this agency you will be employed by the family/s with which you are placed. Once placed, it is your responsibility to comply with the taxation act and we recommend that you strongly consider adequate Nanny Insurance. Forms are available through the agency. Nanny insurance is at your discretion however, without it you risk personal indemnity costs that the agency will not be held responsible for under any circumstances. The current monthly premium is $36.00 and is tax deductible.

    Please also ensure that your First aid training remains current.

    Important: The new NSW Working with Children check rules apply to all applicants of Blue Ribbon Nannies. You will in most cases be required to hold your own WWCC number/certification at a personal cost of $80. This check and certification is valid for three years from date of issue and is available from www.kids.nsw.gov.au

    Under no circumstances accept direct bookings and/or offers of employment with families or individuals introduced to you through Blue Ribbon nannies. This also applies to any persons associated in any way with a client family that you are introduced to by Blue Ribbon Nannies and/or subsequently employed by through a Blue Ribbon Nannies referral. Please do not introduced Nanny friends to these families in view of prospective employment unless Blue Ribbon Nannies has been previously made aware of such a situation or arrangement taking place. Tentative arrangements for casual bookings i.e. baby sitting and temp assignments are acceptable provided that either yourself or the client family contacts the agency either the same day or 9am the following day. Nannies/Carers found to be accepting direct bookings would be refused any future assignments and/or offers of employment.

    If in doubt contact the agency as soon as possible.

    In order to find you a suitable position/assignment, your file may be introduced to a partner agency of our choice.

    Children in your care are to be supervised at all times. Children create dangerous situations and it is your duty of care to remain vigilant and alert at all times. Keep children away from all possible dangers.

    Important: Medications must only be administered with written permission from the parent/s guardian. It is a recommendation of this agency that you carry with you appropriate permission to administer medication forms – a sample form can be downloaded from: Nanny sure Permission to administer medication

    Be sure to receive written instructions on the correct dosage, medication type and dosage times. This must be documented and signed by the parent/guardian. We advise that you ensure that a client/family provides you with details of their family doctor and/or relevant contact numbers in case a child becomes ill or you believe that he or she requires assistance in any way. In the case of an emergency do not hesitate - dial 000 *All accidents or incidents must be are reported to the parent/employer immediately - be sure to make a note of the time, date and outcome of the incident.

    Report to the parent/employer any illnesses that you may develop, disabilities and/or problems that may affect your capacity as a Nanny whilst engaged/employed* Ensure that the home is secure at all times. Keep animals under supervision around children always - especially babies and toddlers. Under no circumstances is it acceptable to hit or smack children in your care as this may be viewed as assault and legal action may be taken against you. Verbal abuse is also unacceptable.

    Try to keep valuable and breakable objects out of reach of children - accidents happen and the agency will not be held responsible.  Be discreet in relation to any family business that may come to your attention. Children must not be left with any other person/s unless instructed to do so by the client/employer. Permission to take children out of the home must also be granted by the client/employer at all times.

     At no time will you be asked to pay fees to Blue Ribbon Nannies for services rendered by the agency –upon placement however, (Permanent positions) the client family may require that you commit to and obtain a federal criminal history clearance (name check) through NSW police, (payable to NSW Police). Blue Ribbon Nannies can upon request, assist you with the preparation and lodgement of this document.

    As above, the NSW WWCC check applies to all applicants. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have a valid WWCC provider number at all times.
